help for people starting tomorrow at the oakland civic -- convention center. paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. >> we were the first to bring you the story of a string of robberies at the carquinez bridge toll plaza. now three men are under arrest. ktvu's ken pritchett is live with the slow steady case that came together for investigators. ken? >> reporter: the chp says it happened this way, a car pulls up, it would stop, someone would get out and threaten the toll both worker. that happened 10 times at this toll lawser in the last -- plaza in the last year. at the carquinez bridge toll plaza with armed robbers hit the location repeatedly. >> they were hard to identify. >> reporter: he says three men have now been identified and arrested. robert larry white, christopher lee miller, david joseph morales. the chp believes they are responsible for 3-10 robberies here at the carquinez bridge toll plaza. the investigation was difficult because they used stolen cars. investigators had help from the police department in finding suspects through the use of record checks on traffic stops

four years after his death, the case of oscar grant was back in court this morning. ktvu's brian flores joins us live from outside of the courthouse in san francisco to explain what was at stake. good afternoon, brian. >> reporter: hey, good afternoon, tori. well, what was at stake today was a civil case. but there was no decision made today here inside san francisco federal court. on the case of johannes mehserle and other officers involved in the shooting of oscar grant during a new year's party a few years ago. now, attorneys for anthony p. eroni and johannes mehserle argued they should be offered immunity because they argued the shooting was an accident. they also say it was tragic but there was reasonable actions by the officers to act the way they did. meanwhile, the attorneys for the victims and four others claim it was not an accident, that they were defenseless and should not be granted qualified immunity of the law. here's what both sides had to say. >> what it means is the simple fact that our rights have been violated. those young men are tie to us as a family -- are tied to

championship game is coming up between stanford sxd ucla. i just chekd ktvu traffic, but as you get closer to the stadium, traffic is getting heavy as some of the fannings head toward the stadium. they've had tarps outon the field trying keep the field dry. let's see what thesituation is like. ktvu newsjohn is on the field. what arethe conditions like on the field and also in those dirt parking lots around the stadium the game is about an hour away, and it has been cleared but now a light drizzle is falling. they did cover up the field in order to keep the water off the field. i can show you that theground here along the sidelines is still quite muddy bit it should be okay for game time. now, outside the stadium where fans setup shop, and they had to setup their tailgate spots in damp or even muddy ground. but the party is not slows down at all. stanford and ucla aredrirnging and eat sxg playing games getting ready for tonight's game and not fadz by the water we keep the ether up dats, and we come on out and this is the fwraek in between. >> i don't feel the rain. and as we said, the fans

, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> well, the victim of a hit and run in the south bay has died. it happened yesterday in san jose. ktvu's janine de la vega has been there since 4:30 this morning talking to people who say they know the dangers in the area. janine? >> reporter: well, dave this intersection quinnby road, the traffic is picking up. there are a lot of pedestrians in the area at that time when this happened. police say around 5:45 last night a man was crossing the intersection struck him and -- and was struck. his identify city not being released until his next of skin notified. police are looking for anyone who saw anything. police say it's disappointing that the driver acted so callous. >> it's sad that we have to -- you know, you have to obey the laws when you cross the street. obey the laws. >> reporter: we don't know if. victim was jaywalking or -- we don't know if the victim was jaywalking or was on the sidewalk. the speed limit on the road here is 40 miles an hour. we're waiting for a call back from police to see if they can tell us how fast the suspect vehicle was going.

de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> and to the latest on san francisco muni. it's back up and running after a transformer problem shut down everything for hours. ktvu aalex savidge live at the -- ktvu's alex savidge is live at the van ness station. what do you know? >> reporter: well, right here on market street, i did an interview with the mta spokesperson, he came out here and updated the situation. he says computers who use subway systems can expect a smooth right. all of the issues has been resolved. he tells me all of their trains are running on their regular schedules. let me show you the scene inside the van ness station. all of the trains again moving this morning. there was a shutdown, though, last night. it was about 6:00 when the entire subway system stopped because of a blown transformer at the van ness station. crews had to work throughout the night to fix the problem. and then finally at 1:30 this morning, they had everybody up and running again. with all of the subways out of service. you can imagine it was a major hassle for tens of thousands of commuters. many
